Soviet pilot Alexander Orekhov gave his life fighting for China against Japanese aggression in 1938.

For years, his grandnephew Alexey searched for his story -- until a memorial worker in Nanjing, Miao Lei, helped bring it to light.

"You gave your life to help us. I will spend my life remembering you," said Miao.
